WAXING WITH OIL or POWDER?

Once upon a time, powder/cornstarch was the go-to for waxing professionals (and still is for some) for prep before waxing. Did it work? Well, yes. It helps to absorb excess oil and sweat prior to waxing.

However, the choice between oil and powder, for many others (like PRMP) is determined ultimately by 1) choosing to preserve or improve the condition of the skin and 2) considering the comfort of the guest.

Below, we’ll explore the top 2 reasons we’ve ALWAYS chosen to wax with oil.

        1.      Nourishment:
Using a pre-wax oil provides a dual benefit by not only ensuring smooth hair removal but also deeply nourishing the skin. Unlike powders, which can sometimes leave the skin feeling dry, oil creates a protective barrier, leaving your skin moisturized. Skin that is dry is also more susceptible to lifting*.
        2.      Reduced Irritation and Redness:
Oil applied before waxing acts as a buffer between skin and wax, reducing friction during the waxing process. This not only minimizes discomfort but also helps in preventing irritation.

In short, at PRMP we apply the oil so that the wax sticks to the hair, not to the skin. This is to minimize irritation, making the hair removal process less painful and gentler for our guests.
